Gram Sewa Mandal

Khadi cloth reflects simplicity, art and respect for rustic artisans. The splendor of wearing khadi is something else! This is what our spontaneous Khadi models are talking about!

Gram Sewa Mandal is a non-profit organisation, established in 1961 that works primarily in the domain of Water, Education, Food & Nutrition, Business & Finance, Energy & Environment, Agriculture and Animal & Wildlife.

Major tasks and accomplishments (as reported by the NGO): Khadi production, organic farming, tel ghani, indigenous cotton cloth, indigenous livestock, charkha manufacturing, indigenous seed conservation It employs the workmanship of many artisanal weavers.

It supports communities to produce hand-woven cotton, from seed to cloth. There were so many things in the works, from domestic ginning machines, to roving machines, to a wide variety of spinning wheels, those small enough to carry on the train, to larger ones for whole communities to use - a homage to Gandhi and his philosophy.
